At our Community Council meeting on 11 March, Greig Templeton from ILI ( https://www.ili-energy.com/ ) talked through a Proposal of Application submitted to Fife Council last week, as follows:
- the development of a data centre
- to be sited within the boundary on the map (see below)

- the proposal is at an early stage and ILI are keen to shape it with input from Auchtertool village residents
- it is likely to be a warehouse type structure with landscaping, which needs a ‘flat area’ of land
- the plot identified is the only one on Scotland which ✔️ most of their boxes
- in the Fife local development plan it has been identified as ‘Mossmorran potential expansion’

- the company have been discussing the proposal with ‘Invest Fife’ Fife Council’s Economic Development Team, not linked in any way to the Planning department.
They were thanked for coming to speak to us so early in the process and a number of questions were raised - some of which could not be answered until the proposal is further developed.
We made the following assumptions (which are to be tested) as to why it’s the only suitable site in Scotland …
- Two expanding sub stations adjacent to the site and
- availability of significant battery storage close by
Two public meetings are being planned in the next few weeks to provide further information. It has been agreed these will not be held in public / school holiday time.
When these public meetings dates are announced, we will let you know via this website and the Auchtertool Community Billboard.
