Auchtertool Community Trust (ACT) is looking into the possibility of buying the Auchtertool pub, The Tiel, to develop it as a community owned facility for the benefit of the residents of the village.
You can find out more and have your say by filling in the Community Survey available until 16th August 2023.
The purchase of the pub could be made possible with support from the Scottish Land Fund, a Scottish government based organisation which will help communities purchase land or buildings if they can be developed to benefit the community. Please note that ACT has now taken over the Pub Steering Group mentioned in the survey. This is because the Scottish Land Fund requires to work with a formally constituted group.
The first stage of the process is a detailed investigation into the feasibility of the project.
Community Enterprise , an organisation which helps communities assess the viability of developing a community owned facility e.g. pub/cafe/shop, has been appointed to carry out a community survey and a feasibility study.
At the public meeting, held in the village hall on 13th June, a team from Community Enterprise outlined the detailed investigation they will carry out on behalf of the village. Douglas Westwater, who is leading the Community Enterprise team, explained that gathering the views of local people through the survey and at meetings is a very important part of the investigation. He said he was very impressed by the range of comments and questions put forward by the people attending the public meeting. There will be another public meeting in September (date to be decided) to report on findings so far and hear more comment from the community.
We would like to hear from as many people in the village as possible. Every voice counts.
The Community Survey will be available until Wednesday 16th August 2023.
